COLSA Corporation is seeking a self-motivated senior radar engineer capable of leading a team of engineers to support the verification and validation of a model representing the Long-Range Discrimination Radar (LRDR). A STARS radar engineer will be a senior team member executing test scenarios, conducting digital simulations, and analyzing raw radar data. The STARS radar engineer will utilize, adapt, and develop analytical tools (MATLAB) to evaluate data/scenarios that will be presented to the customer. Harmonization with other team members is essential as is the ability to work both alone and in groups, depending on the task. Excellent communication skills are the hallmark of a STARS team member Principal Duties and Responsibilities (*Essential functions) * Plans, conducts and technically directs research on extremely complex phases of projects * * Participates in the development of patent applications/protection of intellectual property * * Conducts investigations and tests of high complexity * * Responsible for planning and executing extremely complex and/or advanced research * * Reviews literature, patents & current practices relevant to the solution of assigned projects * * Exercises independent judgment in developing methods, techniques, and evaluation criterion for obtaining results * * May contribute to scientific literature and conferences * May provide work leadership including assigning work Required Experience -- Required Qualifications * Ph.D. in a related scientific field with extensive, proven technical expertise demonstrated through publication, patents, or equivalent * Minimum of fifteen years of advanced scientific or engineering development * Must have an active DoD Secret security Clearance * Must maintain substantial knowledge of state-of-the art principles and theories * Proficient in the area of ballistic missile radar system engineering * Expert in communication, especially technical reporting and presentation * Expert ability to analyze complex data, arrive at logical conclusions, and make recommendations Preferred Qualifications * Expert in verification and validation practices with specific emphasis on structural validation * Familiarity with Active Electronically Scanned Arrays (AESAs) theory and technology * Expert in radar signal processing * Experience with development or evaluation of Long Range Discrimination Radar (LRDR) * Experience in software development and testing * Proficiency in S-Band Radar Engineering Applicant selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
